Analysis

Words that I'm unsure of their meaning

labour: Maybe it's someone who works in a factory, company, etc. The word is related to "cheap", that is the reason for my counseling.
Definition: Workmen on a job

agitaded: In the text Sheila stares "agitaded" at Inspector Goole. Maybe the meaning is mean or something like this.
Definition: To make someone excited and anxious (aufgeregt, aufgewühlt)

startled: I guess it means "verwundert" or at least something like this, because thats Gerald's reaction as he hears that Eva Smith changed her name to Daisy Renton, followed by a "What?".
Definition: To do something unexpected that surprises and sometimes worries a person:
(erschrocken, bestürtzt)

magistrate: Maybe when someone is magistrate then he thinks he is a better person. In the text Mrs. Birling discribes Mr. Birling as a Lord Mayor and a magistrate.
Definition: A person who has power to put the laws into force and sentence those guilty of lesser crimes

Great! You give good explanations for your reasoning and a lot of times you're pretty close.

Characterization Arthur Birling He is the husband of Sybil and the father of Sheila and Eric. He is a heavy-looking man in his mid-fifties, with good manners but rather provincial in his speech. He is the owner of Birling and Company, some sort of factory business which employs several girls to work on machines. He is a Magistrate and, two years ago, was Lord Mayor of Brumley. He is a man of some standing in the town. He describes himself as a "hard-headed practical man of business," and he is firmly capitalist, even right-wing, in his political views. I really like his wisdom although I'm not sure if he's really that wise or just pretend to be. He is very angry as he hears that he should be responsible for Erica Smith's dead, cause he would have had the chance to get on the Honour List soon. I think he is kinda selfish. I got some informations for my descripiton here:  http://www.gradesaver.com/an-inspector-calls/study-guide/character-list 150 Words

Reflection What I learnt personally I love the book's message. You should think more about the consequences of some actions. You can hurt people so quickly with the most stupid things, even if you dont realise it at the moment. So you should be carefully what you do and think about it twice always. Also I did learn, that drinking and partying doesn't solve problems, more likely it causes them as you can see in the example of Eric. I can't imgaine being responsive for someones death and how I would react. The book shows this quite good. Sometimes you just need to be more empathetic and try to feel what others feel. I also learnt, that you should never trust a person you dont know without questioning who he is (Inspector Goole). Don't believe everything you get told, start questioning it. Start questioning people. In conclusion, I can say that the book has shown a very sensitive side of life. 156 Words

Characterization Part 2 A short letter to J.B. Priestley Dear Mr. Priestley I am just reading your book and I am stunned. When I started reading I wasn't that impressed. It was quite boring and nothing happened, but i kept reading because we had to read it for a school project. As I kept reading, the story and the characters got more exciting with the time. I was really impressed at the point where the inspector got in and Edna said "Please, sir, an inspector's called". That nearly gave me goosebumps. From that scene on the book got better and better. I love how the characters interact and how the whole story upon to this point where I'm writing keeps playing in only one single room. I really like the style of your writing. The dialogues are very thrilling and well written.  Please see this letter as a praise for your work. With this book you give such an important statement into the world. I really appriciate that. Keep up the good work. Gree...
